S1E3 - “Encounter at Farpoint” (TNG S1 E1) + “The Practical Joker” (TAS S2 E3)

It’s an episode of firsts! We examine the first time the holodeck ever appears in a CANON episode of Star Trek, in the series premiere of The Next Generation, while also watching the first time a version of the holodeck appears in The Animated Series, where it’s called “The Rec Room.” We discuss holodeck bug reports, “Chekhov’s rock,” the undercelebrated genius of a “Kirk is a Jerk” shirt, and go over the history of the holodeck as a concept and execution. The Enterprise’s least important officers meet for the first time in Ten Forward and try to figure out whether to suck up to Picard or Riker, how to get a permission slip to go down to Farpoint Station, and how many Enterprises there are during a saucer separation. We encourage you to watch “Encounter at Farpoint” from Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1, Episode 1 and “The Practical Joker” from Star Trek: The Animated Series Season 2, Episode 3! Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

CBS has announced another new Star Trek series: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The boys spool up the holodeck to discuss the news. Will there be… exploration? Will it be good fanservice or BAD fanservice? Will they bring back Kirk? SHOULD they bring back Kirk? S1E2 - “Our Man Bashir” (DS9 S4 E10)

When a runabout gets blown up by space terrorists before the crew can fully transport to Deep Space Nine, it’s up to “Our Man Bashir” to keep their transporter patterns busy - and alive - in the holosuite. This send-up of James Bond (referencing another send-up of the superspy, Our Man Flint) is a holo-DELIGHT.

Why does the holosuite always turn off safeties when things go wrong? Which actor plays the campiest character? Why does Garak want Bashir to kill everybody?

Deep Space Nine’s least important officers discuss diplomatic mission invitations, cooking, and power coupling repairs on The Promenade.

We encourage you to watch “Our Man Bashir” from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 4, Episode 10!

S1E1 - "A Fistful of Datas" (TNG S6 E8)

On our first mission, we watch, analyze, and rate Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “A Fistful of Datas.” Is Worf a good dad? Is Data’s head port thing gross or... SUPER gross? Why do they call it the “Ancient” West and not the “Old” West? Does Reginald Barclay program holodeck porn?

Plus, you'll meet some of the Enterprise-D’s least important officers as they have a meal in Ten Forward.

We encourage you to watch “A Fistful of Datas” from Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 6, Episode 8!
